What PRP and PRF Actually Are

Both start with a small blood draw, no different from routine lab work. The sample is then spun in a centrifuge, which separates the blood into layers by density. The layer we want is rich in platelets, and platelets carry growth factors, the proteins your body releases whenever tissue needs repair.

That concentrate is then either applied to the skin during microneedling, where it absorbs through the micro channels, or injected directly into areas of concern.

The Difference Between the Two

PRP is spun at a higher speed and often includes an anticoagulant, producing a liquid concentrate. It spreads easily, which makes it well suited to pairing with microneedling across a full face.

PRF is spun more slowly and without additives. The result is a fibrin matrix, a soft scaffold that holds the platelets together and releases growth factors gradually over several days rather than all at once. Microneedling creates thousands of temporary micro channels through the skin. Applying PRP at that moment means the growth factors reach far deeper than any topical serum could manage. You are also stacking two collagen signals at once, the mechanical injury response from the needling and the biochemical signal from the platelets.

What to Expect Afterward

When combined with microneedling, expect redness resembling a moderate sunburn for twenty four to forty eight hours. Injected PRF may cause mild swelling in the treated area for a day or two. Neither requires meaningful time away from normal activity, though we recommend avoiding makeup and active skincare for the first day.

Results Build Over a Series

A series of three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart delivers the most noticeable improvement. Because the treatment works by stimulating your own regeneration rather than adding anything to the skin, results continue developing for several months after your final session.
