SHR Laser Hair Removal

Traditional laser hair removal relies on high energy single pulses, which many people find genuinely uncomfortable. SHR, or Super Hair Removal, takes a different approach. It heats the follicle gradually using repeated low energy pulses delivered with a moving technique across the treatment area. The result is a treatment most clients describe as a warm massage rather than a series of snaps.
Gradual Heating, Better Comfort
Rather than delivering all its energy at once, SHR builds heat in the follicle progressively while a cooled sapphire tip protects the skin surface. This gradual approach reaches the temperature needed to disable the follicle while keeping the epidermis comfortable, which also makes it safer across a broader range of skin tones.
Commonly Treated Areas
- Face, including upper lip and chin
- Underarms
- Bikini and Brazilian
- Legs, full or lower
- Back, chest, and shoulders
- Arms and forearms
Why a Series Is Required
Hair grows in cycles, and only follicles in the active growth phase respond to laser energy. At any given time only a portion of your hair is in that phase, which is why a series of six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is standard. Skipping appointments extends the overall timeline because you fall out of sync with the growth cycle.
Preparing for Treatment
Shave the area the day before, avoid waxing or plucking for four weeks beforehand since the follicle must be intact, and avoid sun exposure and self tanner for two weeks. Sun protection between sessions is essential in the desert.

Is SHR Laser Hair Removal Right for You?
The honest determining factor is hair color, not skin color. Laser energy targets pigment within the hair itself, so dark hair responds best regardless of your skin tone.
- Dark hair on almost any area, from the upper lip to full legs
- Skin tones across the Fitzpatrick range, since SHR is safer than many traditional hair removal lasers
- Ingrown hairs and irritation from shaving or waxing
- Wanting to stop the ongoing cost and time of waxing appointments
- Being able to commit to a full series rather than one or two sessions
When It Will Not Work Well
Blonde, red, grey, and white hair contain little or no pigment for the laser to target, and results are poor. We will tell you this before you book rather than after you have paid for a package. Certain medications and conditions also affect suitability, so your provider will review your history at consultation.

Preparing for Each Session
Shave the area the day before, since the follicle needs to be intact but the surface hair needs to be gone. Do not wax, pluck, or thread for four weeks beforehand, because removing the follicle removes the target. Avoid sun exposure and self tanner for two weeks. Between sessions, shaving is fine and encouraged. Keeping to your appointment intervals matters more than people expect, since missing them puts you out of sync with the hair growth cycle and extends the overall timeline.
Booking at AREA
Six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is standard, varying with the area treated and your hair type. A completed series delivers significant permanent reduction, with most clients returning occasionally for maintenance afterward. A fifty dollar appointment reservation fee is assessed at the time of booking and will be deducted from the services provided as defined in our policies.

FAQ
FAQs
Answers to your frequently asked questions.
How many sessions will I need?
Six to eight sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is standard, though this varies with the area treated and your hair type.
Can I wax between sessions?
No. Waxing and plucking remove the follicle the laser needs to target. Shaving between sessions is fine and encouraged.
Does it work on light or grey hair?
Laser energy targets pigment in the hair, so blonde, red, grey, and white hair respond poorly. Dark hair responds best.
Is it safe for darker skin?
Yes. SHR's gradual heating and cooled tip make it appropriate across a wide range of skin tones, and your provider will confirm settings for your skin type.
How much will this treatment cost?
At Area Hydration & Aesthetics, every treatment plan is customized to you, which is why we do not publish standard pricing. Your results, goals, and skin or body are unique, and your investment should reflect a plan built specifically for them rather than a one size fits all price list. Schedule a consultation today and we will walk you through the options and pricing that make sense for your goals.
